THE LAST DROP MAKES THE CUP RUN OVER
2023
Rooted in motherhood, The Last Drop Makes the Cup Run Over traces emotional and mental landscapes shaped by life with a young child, where nature-based photomontages give form to tension, fragility, and resilience.
Inspired by my everyday life as a full-time mother of a toddler, the project The Last Drop Makes the Cup Run Over emerged as a personal reflection on how parenthood has shaped my mental and emotional landscape. Through photographic montages rooted in nature photography, the work explores moments of tension, sensory input, and emotional pressure — experiences that are familiar to many parents navigating life with a young child.
Raising a toddler requires constant energy and adaptability. Ongoing sensory stimuli, limited moments of rest, and the continuous demands of caregiving can sometimes disrupt one’s sense of balance. This project investigates how the accumulation of such experiences influences identity, emotional equilibrium, and resilience.
Photography serves as both a reflective and restorative practice. By translating emotion into imagery drawn from the natural world, the work creates space for contemplation, calm, and reconnection. The intensity and vulnerability inherent in motherhood are expressed through digital photomontages that combine digital photography with pinhole imagery.
